UT Collector Keeps His 29 Boa Constrictors For Now
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – A Utah collector of expensive, exotic snakes has won at least a temporary reprieve from the Cottonwood Heights City Council after he'd been ordered to remove more than two dozen rare boa constrictors from his home.
Police cited Thomas Cobb a week ago for failure to have an exotic pet permit and told him he had until Friday to get rid of all but one of his 29 boa constrictors, some as long as 7 feet.
KSL-TV reports the officers noted his setup was clean and well-kept. Cobb says the snakes are worth $12,000 apiece. He says he spent $100,000 on top-ofthe line cages in his basement.
He argued before the council on Friday the exotic pet ordinance is confusing, and the council agreed to look into the case further.
