McCbg. Schools To Hold Spring Concert
McConnellsburg Middle and High School choirs announce their annual spring chorus concert Thursday evening, May 16, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Please plan to arrive early. Soloists will be singing before the concert officially begins. Soloists include: De- Anne Dickerson, Katelynn Mellott and Hannah Ott.
The middle school portion of the program begins with a “Laudate,” followed by two spirituals “The Power and the Glory,” and “Little Innocent Lamb.” Two “feel good” songs continue the program – “We Are the Young” and “Why We Sing” (from the county chorus program).
The middle school concludes its part of the program with three pieces chosen themselves, “Firework,” “God Gave Me You,” and “Stuck Like Glue.” Middle school county chorus members will sing “Bonse Aba” and the senior high county chorus members will sing “Ose Shalom,” each from their county chorus program.
The seniors of chorus will sing a special selection entitled “Anyway.” The senior chorus concludes the concert starting with the traditional “In Flanders Fields” and followed by the English art song “Down By the Sally Gardens.” Two Latin pieces continue the program, including “Non, Nobis, Domine” and “Ubi Caritas.” “Make Us Your Candle” follows, and the choral ensemble will present one of its numbers “Wade in the Water.” Senior Caitlin Glazier will sing a solo, “Temporary Home.” The senior chorus chose the next three pieces: “Hallelujah” from Shrek, “I’ll Be There,” and a medley entitled “A Tribute to Queen” (the rock band). The medley from “Phantom of the Opera” concludes the program for the evening.
There will be no admission charge, although donations are always gladly accepted.
