MHS To Hold Band Concert
The concert will begin with the MHS Spartan Marching Band presenting its Memorial Day parade and service program with the “Star Spangled Banner,” “ God Bless America,” and “This Is My Country.” Band President Brandi Welsh will be a guest conductor during this portion of the program. The marching band will conclude with its fall march, “You Give Love a Bad Name.” The nearly 50-piece middle school band will perform seven compositions, including “America the Beautiful,” “Royal March,” “Great Gates of Kiev,” “African Trilogy,” “Astro Overture,” “ Some Nights,” and will close with “Rock Around the Clock.” The senior high band will conclude the evening festivities with Edvard Grieg’s “ Peer Gynt Suite,” the Shaker hymn entitled “Simple Gifts,” the classic “Oregon
Trail,” a John Philip Sousa March called “The Thunderer,” the modern sounding “North Face,” a John Lennon classic “Imagine,” and top off the evening with a sea shanty entitled “I’m Shipping Off to Boston.”
There is no admission charge, although donations are gladly accepted. There will be a very brief Music Boosters meeting at the conclusion of the performance. Please plan to spend a fun-filled evening of band music and support the music program at MHS.
