Virginia Man Charged With DUI

A Manassas, Va., man is accused of driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a traffic stop at 135 Knobsville Road.

State police reported on April 17, they were alerted of a stranded motorist in Todd Township at 11:28 p.m. Police determined 36-yearold William Archer Clark III was allegedly under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance.

Man Accused Of Burglary

James Neal Spears II, address unknown, is being charged with burglary and theft in connection with a break-in at 218 Seminole Lane, Mercersburg. State police alleged Spears, 40, is responsible for stealing two firearms from the home belonging to a 67-year-old male on March 26. Charges against Spears will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Bard.

Two Cited For Tobacco Infractions

Two McConnellsburg area residents have been cited by state police for a tobacco infraction at McConnellsburg High School on April 12. According to state police reports, a 15-year-old boy was in possession of tobacco on school property at 2:55 p.m. In addition, 57- year- old Lois Shotts has been cited for furnishing the minor with the tobacco.

Breezewood Man Accused Of Careless Driving

A 26-year- old Breezewood, Pa., man faces charges of careless driving following a hit-and-run accident along South Valley Road on April 14.

Pennsylvania State Police from the McConnellsburg barracks said Raymond I. Hillenbrand was travelling southbound at 10 a.m., when he failed to negotiate a righthand turn in the Brush Creek Township roadway. Hillenbrand’s 2004 Chevrolet Silverado went off the road where it struck a barn. Hillenbrand reportedly backed up following the collision and continued heading south for over a half mile before the vehicle came to a rest at 6688 South Valley Road.

Hillenbrand was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. State police were assisted on the scene by Painter Towing.

Truck Rear-Ended

A southbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was rear-ended while travelling along Olde Scotland Road in Franklin County.

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg reported Vaughn R. Oberholzer, 68, of Greencastle, was slowing to make a left turn onto Seibert Avenue in Southampton Township when his truck was struck from behind by a 2000 Ford Focus driven by Kenneth J. Winebrenner, 18, of Needmore.

Police said Winebrenner was distracted while changing the radio station in his car. Winebrenner and Oberholzer were both wearing seatbelts and escaped harm. Winebrenner will be cited in connection with the accident.

Television Stolen

A 19-inch flat screen television and an Xbox 360 game console were stolen from 868 Davis Lane in Taylor Township between 6 p.m. on April 2 and 3 p.m. on April 3. Victim in the theft is a 43-yearold Hustontown man. Anyone having further information related to this theft should contact state police Trooper Miller at 717-485- 3131.

Police Investigate Crash on Great Cove Road

Pennsylvania State Police from the McConnellsburg barracks investigated a twovehicle crash at the intersection of Interstate 70 and Great Cove Road on Saturday, April 13.

Police reported Kristina M. Westernick, 22, of State College, got off the Warfordsburg exit of Interstate 70 at 10:50 a.m. when she decided to continue westbound. Westernick crossed Great Cove Road to get back onto the ramp and pulled into the path of a southbound 2008 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Randy J. Mellott, 56, Warfordsburg.

The impact caused Westernick’s 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit to spin clockwise into a guardrail on the western berm of Great Cove Road. Mellott’s truck travelled off the Bethel Township roadway and came to a rest against a guardrail following the 10:50 a.m. accident.

Police said Westernick suffered minor injuries as did Mellott’s passenger Lucille N. Mellott, 55, also of Warfordsburg. All three individuals were wearing seatbelts. Westernick will be cited by state police for failure to obey traffic control devices.

State police were assisted on the scene by Needmore Volunteer Fire Co.

Hit-And-Run Reported

State police investigators are searching for the whereabouts of a grey 1996 to 1999 Mazda 626 believed to be responsible for a hit-and-run accident along Lincoln Highway .

Police said the unknown vehicle was travelling westbound through Licking Creek Township when it travelled across the roadway and drove through a high tensile fence between 11 p.m. on April 14 and 6:30 a.m. on April 15. The vehicle broke off several fence posts during the crash and ran through a horse pasture before fleeing the scene. Anyone having additional information concerning this accident is urged to call state police Trooper Sprague at 717-485-3131.

DUI Charges Pending

Charges of driving under the influence are pending through the office of Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne against a 19-year-old male, who was not identified by state police in reports.

Police said the man lost controlofaared,two-door Chevrolet Cobalt while traveling south on North Clear Ridge Road at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. While investigating the reportable crash with injuries, police located synthetic marijuana inside the vehicle. Police alleged the driver admitted to using the substance prior to the crash.

Verbal Argument Turns Physical

Charges of harassment will be filed after a verbal argument allegedly turned physical at 8962 Pleasant Ridge Road over the weekend.

According to state police reports, a 26-year-old Harrisonville woman was involved in a dispute with Christopher William Feagley, 24, also of Harrisonville. Feagley will be charged through the office of Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne.

Greencastle Man Accused Of Harassment

A 29-year- old Franklin County man was reportedly involved in a case of harassment that occurred on April 31 at 211 Chicory Lane in Union Township. State police said Dustin L. Gearhart of Greencastle, was involved in a verbal altercation with a 36- year- old Warfordsburg area woman between the hours of 5:19 p.m. and 7:52 p.m. During the dispute, Gearhart was accused of threatening to kill the victim. Charges will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Tamela Bard.

Truck Stolen In Burglary

A dark green, 1978 Ford F-150 truck with a grey cap and aluminum rims was among the items stolen during a burglary at Keystone Electric located at 117 North Sixth Street in the McConnellsburg Borough.

According to state police reports, burglars forced their way into the business through a secured storm door at 1 a.m. on Monday, April 1. Also stolen during the break-in was a 6-horsepower Mercury outboard motor, a full-set of golf clubs, various types of copper and aluminum wire, television cable, hand tools and a 2,000- watt Honda generator.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging individuals with information to contact Trooper Bartlett at the Mc- Connellsburg barracks at 717-485-3131.

Harassment Charges Pending

Charges against two Hancock, Md., residents are pending following an incident that occurred earlier this month on the 800 block of McKibbin Lane in Union Township.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg stated Kathy Lynn Dere, 35, and 43- year-old Bruce Allen Coffman, both of Hancock, reportedly arrived at the Union Township property at 3:10 p.m. on April 11 to stop three victims from departing. Dere is accused of exiting her vehicle and verbally threatening the victims, who were identified by police as a 52-year-old Needmore woman, an 81- year-old Warfordsburg area man and a 43-year-old female from Hancock.

Truck Window Broken

A 72-year-old Needmore area man discovered the rear window of his pickup truck was shattered while parked at 10293 Timber Ridge Road. The victim told state police investigators, he believed the mischief occurred when a glass bottle was thrown from a southbound moving vehicle between 11 p.m. on April 14 and 9:40 a.m. on April 15. Mailbox Damaged

A mailbox located at 348 R&R Farm Lanes, McConnellsburg was damaged between 8 p.m. on April 14 and 6:30 a.m. on April 15. Victim is a 75-year-old McConnellsburg man. Anyone with additional information concerning this case is asked to call state police Trooper Sprague at 717-485-3131.

Harrisonville Man Injured

A Harrisonville area man sustained minor injuries during a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Salem and Letterkenny roads on Saturday, April 13.

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg reported Charles J. Estelle Jr., 18, of Chambersburg, stopped at a stop sign while travelling eastbound on salem Road at 7:10 p.m. Estelle pulled into the intersection without yielding right- of-way to a southbound 1993 Harley Davidson Softtail driven by Logan K. Cunningham, 24, of Harrisonville. Cunningham attempted to avoid the collision, police said, but struck the driver’s side rear corner panel of Estelle’s 2006 Hyundai Sonata.

Cunningham’s motorcycle reportedly fell onto its right side following impact. He was wearing a helmet but suffered minor injuries. He did not require medical transport.

Police noted Estelle and his passengers, Amanda R. Shaeffer, 18, and 1-year-old girl, also of Chambersburg, were not injured. Estelle will be cited for duties at stop signs and learner’s permits.

Pills, Cigarettes Stolen

A variety of prescription pills and approximately 15 cigarettes were stolen during a theft from 660 Johnson Mill Road between April 3 and 4, state police said. Among the pills reported missing by a 43-year- old Needmore woman were 200 Tramodol and 10 Lisinpril. Counterfeit Money Found

A 40-year-old Warfordsburg area man discovered he was in possession of a counterfeit $20 bill on Saturday, April 13. Anyone with additional information linked to this incident is asked to call state police Trooper Falkosky at 717-485-3131.

Woman Cited For Careless Driving

The driver of a northbound 2005 GMC Envoy will be cited for careless driving in connection with an accident on Wednesday, April 17, along Aughwick Road.

Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said Dennette L. Kendall, 34, of Burnt Cabins was approaching a righthand curve in the Dublin Township roadway when she dozed off at the wheel. Kendall’s vehicle struck a large stone along the berm with its front end. The impacted caused the vehicle to roll over onto its side and slide approximately 150 feet in the oncoming lane.

Kendall and her 6-yearold male passenger suffered minor injuries in the 10:25 p.m. crash just south of the intersection of Grist Mill Road. They were wearing seat belts as was an 11-yearold male passenger, who was not harmed.

Local Man Sentenced In W.Va.

A Warfordsburg area man was sentenced in West Virginia earlier this month on charges of driving under the influence. Forty-nine-yearold Carl Vernon Harper was ordered by Magistrate Greg Miller to pay $461 in fines and costs in connection with the infraction.

Lawnmower Missing

Unknown individuals stole a lawn mower valued at $ 100 from a Great Cove Road home in Ayr Township on Monday, April 22, at 2:35 p.m., state police said. Anyone having further information linked to this case should contact state police Trooper Hoover at 717-485-3131.

Burglary Reported In Union Township

State police in McConnellsburg are investigating a burglary that occurred at a South Hixon Road residence in Union Township. The break-in and theft of firearms happened at 5:19 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
