McConnellsburg FFA Chapter held their annual safe tractor driving competition last week.

Keith Clugston, salesmen for Turkey Foot Equipment, a Franklin county equipment dealer, provided the tractor and helped judge the drivers on their ability to drive safely and accurately through two courses as well as determine safety violations on another tractor and pass a tractor safety test.

Thirteen students competed and the placing was as follows:

First – Casey Randler; second – Jason Roderiguez; third – Garrison Crouse; fourth – Zach Cloughley; and fifth – Zach Strait.

Other students competing were: Jacob Bookheimer, Dustin Casher, Sidonna Hershey, Sar-ah Keaton, Cameron Mellott, Jordan Mellott, Jordan Offutt and Cody Trail.

“It is a really great competition,” stated senior Casey Randler. “I’ve been doing it for four years and this year I had the opportunity to help some of the younger, more inexperienced members learn how to drive safely and recognize safety problems. I’m going to miss competing every year.”

Ray Meyer of Ray’s Tire Shop in Breezewood, also helped judge the competition. Keith Clug-ston has been donating his time and providing a tractor to local FFA chapters for their contest for the past 14 years.
