Cowans Gap Park Activities
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of State Parks, and Cowans Gap State Park would like to announce the following upcoming public programs:
Saturday, May 4: 2 p.m., Spring Beauties Walk – April showers bring May flowers. Set out from the nature center to see what is popping up around the park.
4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – nature center open; 6:30 p.m. – Cowans Gap History. Come to the nature center to learn about the history of the park. From the French and Indian War and a secret marriage to the CCC and the many boys that helped build the structures seen around the park.
Sunday, May 5: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – nature center open; 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. – See the Park Series. Every Sunday set out from the nature center to explore a different trail in the park. This week the One Mile Trail where mountain laurel covers the hill and the woodpeckers are tapping away; 4 p. m. – Trilling Time. Toads are trilling, frogs are clacking and spring peepers are singing away. Join the park naturalist to explore the wetland area in search of who is making all that noise! Meet at the nature center.
