New Organ Celebration Weekend Planned
St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 228 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, invites the public to a celebration of their new Allen organ.
Starting at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 4th, a free learning workshop will be held for area organists and pianists. Some of the subjects covered will be better hymn playing, fundatmentals of correct registratio, and easy transition from piano to organ. Choice seating for this workshop is limited. A celebration concert and hymn sing will be presented at 6 p.m., Sunday, May 5. Music will include popular tunes from various cultures throughout the centuries.
The clinician/organist is Richard Merryman from Tyrone, Pa. Merryman is past dean of the American Guild of Organists, and he has more than 40 years experience as a teacher and organist. His concerts and clinics have been well-received in communities throughout Pennsylvania.
The new Allen organ at St. Paul’s UCC was built at the Allen factory in Macungie, Pa. Allen is the world’s largest builder of church organs. The new organ was recently installed by the Music Emporium, Inc., of Altoona.
The public is invited to attend these two free events.
