Barbara A. Fischer, 66, Crystal Spring, Pa., died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born January 16, 1947, a daughter of the late George and Kathleen (Shaffer) Sprowl.

On September 18, 1965, she married Kenneth M. Fischer.

She is survived by her husband and two children: Tammie Payne, Breezewood; and Keith Fischer, married to Lisa (Gordon), Needmore; grandchildren: Aaron Payne, Kasi Payne, Abigail Fischer and Mason Fischer; a brother, Garey Sprowl, married to Irene (Putt), McConnellsburg; and mother-in-law, Helen L. (Roupe) Fischer.

She was preceded in death by sister-in-laws: Betty Lou (Spade) Fischer, Barbara L. Fischer and father-inlaw Roy H. Fischer.

She was a member of Whips Cove United Church of Christ Church in Warfordsburg.

She was a graduate of Forbes Road High School Class of 1965. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She worked at Sanger sewing factory in McConnellsburg from 1965 until its closing and was a manager at Four Season’s Restaurant, Town Hill, until 2002. She was the bookkeeper for Fischer’s Garage until her retirement in 2010.

She is best remembered by her sense of humor, love for the beach and the time spent with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Whips Cove United Church of Christ, Warfordsburg, with Pastor Gene Harding and Pastor Dick Bernhardt officiating.

Friends may call at Akers Funeral Home, 299 Raystown Road, Everett, on Thursday, April 11, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m., until the hour of service at the church.

Burial will be held at Whips Cove UCC Cemetery.
