Money Raised For Homes For Our Troops

A basket bingo planned and held at the McConnellsburg VFW by McConnellsburg High School students Bethany Lane and Courtney Miner has raised more than $4,000 for Homes for Our Troops, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides homes to severely injured veterans at no cost by raising donations of money, building materials, and professional labor. The fundraising event was the two girls’ senior project, and the money they have raised will be used to assist in building a specially adapted home for Zach Stinston, a marine who was wounded in Afghanistan. The VFW and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary also made donations of money to Homes for Our Troops. Pictured at the donation presentation are, left to right, Hunter Souders, Mrs. Stinston, Jim Smith, Linda Lynch, event organizers Courtney Miner and Bethany Lane, VFW Cmdr. George Cutchall, Precious Mae Mann and Jean Skiles, and, in front Zach Stinston.
