Strawberry Festival Set For June 14, 15
Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism is planning the 23rd annual Strawberry Festival for June 14 and 15. Activities are scheduled to get under way at 10 a.m. on both days. Lots of strawberry treats will be featured at the chamber’s booth, along with various delicious food items on sale at the vendor booths located at the Fulton County Courthouse lawn area.
This year Friday evening will feature a concert by the Mercersburg Community Band, which has many members from Fulton County. The festival began as a band concert in the 1950s. On Saturday ReCreation returns to the band shell for an uplifting musical performance beginning at 1 p.m. Also, Reaching Wellness of Fulton County is sponsoring a 5K Strawberry Stampede Run/Walk scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, starting at the courthouse square.
This year’s festival is featuring more things to do: a contest for babies and toddlers, a coloring contest for kindergarten and first-grade students from all county schools, a strawberry recipe contest, and a strawberry capping event. Anyone interested in being a vendor or a participant in any of the events and needs information, call the chamber office at 485-4064.
