Louise Long and family Beverly, Edward and Jacob Hopper and Barbara and Richard Leham had Easter dinner at Gibbles Restaurant at Greencastle. All had a very nice time.

A 100th birthday party was held Saturday for Alice Branch at McConnellsburg Firehall. The celebration was given by her family.

Evelyn Souders of Cito Road spent a few days last week in Fulton County Medical Center with heart complications and went to Harrisburg on Monday for more testing.

The Long-Term-Care Unit of Fulton County Medical Center held its Easter egg hunt on Thursday evening for its residents and their guests.

The descendants of the late Virgil and Margaret Pittman held their annual Easter celebration in Edenville Sunday at the community center.

Snow and Easter vacation gave students had a few days at home.

Seven area boys basketball players were named ICC all-stars. Named to the first team were Nick Smartt, Southern Fulton, and Tyler Green, McConnellsburg. Honorable mention went to Tristan Gelvin, Forbes Road, and Jordan Clingerman, Southern Fulton. Girls basketball players were first team – Macey Hollenshead and Taelor Morton, Southern Fulton. Honorable mention went to Jessie Keefer, McConnellsburg.

Jim Hawbaker marked his 68th year from being on the naval ship that was torpedoed on Good Friday.

Chauncey and Polly Mc- Garvey had an Easter celebration and a surprise 50th birthday celebration for Tracey Truax on Sunday with around 35 family members attending, including Tracey’s grandmother, Ruth Souders, who is now over 100 years old. The kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt.

The Good Friday services at St. Stephen Catholic Church was enjoyed with the choir from the folks at the Long-Term-Care Unit at Fulton County Medical Center, who sang songs. The UCC and Presbyterian choirs sang too and Karen Godissart sang a solo.

It Happened This Week: For the first time ever, doctors saved a life using penicillin in 1942. It was given to Anne Miller, a nurse who was near death from a strep infection. She lived to the age of 90.
