Revival

Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, will hold revival services April 14-17, with guest speaker Rev. Dale Glading, founder of “Risk Takers for Christ.” Dale was founder and executive director of Saints Prison Ministry for 24 years before beginning this evangelistic effort. Revival services will begin with the 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning service April 14 and continue through Wednesday, April 17. New York City Trip

Game night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on April 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Seniors 60 and older are welcome to come and join in the games. Fulton County Community Christian School in Needmore invites visitors to school Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 23, 24 and 25. All grade levels will be open for visitors throughout the day for any length of time. Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary will sell its 65th anniversary cookbook in the front lobby of the center April 18-22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cookbook contains more than 500 recipes and cost is $15. Community Victory Garden

The Fulton County Master Gardeners would like to invite the public to participate in the second year community Victory Garden within McConnellsburg Borough Wednesdays, April 24 to October 30, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Second Street behind the McConnellsburg Firehall. The Victory Garden offers a weekly, summer-long class held during the growing season from April to October. It provides a unique experience for class members to learn about and to participate in the process of vegetable gardening starting from soil preparation in spring to the final fall harvest and preparing the garden for winter. A combination of weekly classes designed to increase knowledge and hands-on work in the garden creates a greater confidence in the abilities of the participants to grow their own gardens at home. As the summer progresses, the group bonds and shares garden experiences, methods of preserving the harvest, seeds and plants, and recipes. There will be a small fee associated with this program $20 per person/$30 family to defray material costs for the 2013 season. Christian Social Sservices of Fulton County (CSS) announces the first homebuyer workshop program coming to Fulton County. CSS is partnering with PathStone Home Ownership Program to bring this here to Fulton County. The first workshop is scheduled for the CSS office in McConnellsburg Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is aimed for families with low and moderate income who have an interest in home ownership. Nominations/voting for replacement board of directors members will be held Thursday, April 4, at McConnellsburg VFW at 6 p.m. Voting for changing the bylaws concerning number of board of directors will be discussed. Chain Saw Workshop

A chain saw workshop will be offered April 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, Buchanan Forest District and Keystone Training Solutions LLC have teamed up to present a one-day comprehensive, hands-on learning experience. Qualified, experienced instructors will guide participants through the basics of selection, maintenance, handling, ergonomics, limbing, bucking, felling, and sharpening chain saws for the woodlot owner. The cost is $30 for members of WOSA (Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies) and $35 for nonmembers. The workshop will be held at Sideling Hill Forest Foreman Headquarters at 3017 Lincoln Highway near Harrisonville, PA 17228. Lunch will not be provided so bring your own. Also, bring saw, personal protective equipment (chaps, gloves, hard hat, eye and hearing protection), and sharpening/maintenance tools. Some personal protective equipment will be available to lend. An Earth Day celebration will be held at the Fulton County Library by the teen advisory board Saturday, April 20, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Something to do for everyone including games, face painting, gardening planters, bluebird boxes and other crafts made from recyclables. Presentations by the county 4-H Robotics Club, Game Commission, Master Gardeners and others. Rain or shine. Earth Day Spring Cleanup

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of State Parks, and Cowans Gap State Park will hold an Earth Day spring cleanup. Spring into action April 27, 2013, as Earth Day is celebrated at Cowans Gap State Park. This is a volunteer workday that will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are asked to meet at Pavilion #1. Volunteer projects will include litter removal, fence repair, painting/staining, trail work, Visitor Center cleanup, picnic table assembly and more. Mark calendars for the Fulton County Historical Society’s annual dinner and meeting April 20, 2013, at 6 p.m., at Hustontown Firehall. The dinner and meeting will be followed with entertainment by Matthew Dodd. The cost is $15 per person, $7.50 for children ages 5- 10, and free under age 5. The era for this show is the Civil War. Each show features its own character with his own accent and personality. Animal League Meeting

Better Days Animal League will hold an organizational meeting Monday, April 8, at 6 p.m., at the BDAL Thrift Store. Please join in to learn more about BDAL, services provided and plans for the upcoming spring fling and rabies clinic at Butterfly Gardens May 18. This is a great opportunity to become involved as a volunteer for our community events or thrift stores, all benefiting the lives of abandoned, abused and neglected animals.
