Fix Wins Mid-Atlantic Soccer Shoot

On Saturday, March 9, 2013, at South Hagerstown High School, Hagerstown, the Elks held its Mid-Atlantic Invitational Soccer Shoot Championship.

U-10 player Megan Fix, daughter of Laurie and Todd Fix of McConnellsburg, became the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Regional Elks Soccer champion. She tied with Payton Mullen from Ohio, with both girls scoring 41 points. This put them into a shootoff, with Fix scoring 10 points and Mullen scoring six.

Fix set a new local and district record. In the U14 girl competition, Sarah Blair, daughter of Alison and Tim Blair of Greencastle, scored 28 points and placed fourth.

Fix and Blair both represented the Chambersburg Elks Lodge # 600 and all of the Pennsylvania Elks. All the shooters and their families were treated to a pizza pool party Friday night and each shooter received a state championship warmup suit. State champions from Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, New Jersey, Kentucky and Pennsylvania were in attendance and all had a fantastic time, compliments of the ELKS.
