Lena P. Bergstresser McConnellsburg, 96

Lena P. Richards Bergstresser, 96, a resident of ManorCare Nursing Home, and formerly of McConnellsburg, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at ManorCare Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

She was born in Leidig, Pa., on March 16, 1917, the daughter of the late Chester and Grace (Cook) Brant. She was the widow of Lamont “Pete” Bergstresser.

She was a member of Mc- Connellsburg United Methodist Church, and attended the Cito United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg.

She was a member of the Fulton County Chapter of the Eastern Star #519 and the Farm Women Association. She was a farmer, a justice of the peace in Ayr Township during the 1960s, was a longtime cook at the Lockins Gun Club in Big Cove Tannery, and also was a retired LPN at Fulton County Medical Center, Mc- Connellsburg, after working there for 30 plus years.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, hunting in her younger days, dancing and music.

She is survived by a son, Ronald E. “Buck” (husband of Carol) Richards of Needmore; a daughter B. Jane (wife of David) Heckman of Chambersburg; a sister, Ferne Vensel of Bedford; five grandchildren: Debbie Buterbaugh of McConnellsburg; Lannette Feathers of Mt. Union; Diane Golden of Hancock; Greg Deneen of Mc- Connellsburg; and Denise Conley of Warfordsburg; two step-grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; one step-greatgrandchild; five great-greatgrandchildren; and two stepgreat great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Richards; a sister Evelyn Mort; brothers: Harry “ Dick” Brant, Merrill “Bud” Brant; and one greatgrandchild Kara Golden.

Services were held at Cito United Methodist Church, McConnellsburg, at 11 a.m.. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Pastor John Godissart officiated. Interment was at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg,.

Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, was in charge of arrangements.

An Eastern Star service was held Monday, March 25, at 7:45 p.m., at the funeral home.
