Tractor-Trailer Hits Traffic Signal



A 2000 Freightliner S0170 was towed from McConnellsburg Borough last Wednesday after it knocked down a traffic light and road sign at the intersection of North Third Street and Lincoln Way East. According to state police reports, 49-year-old Edwin C. Hoerner of Marysville, Pa., was travelling northbound on Third Street when he failed to negotiate a turn. Hoerner’s tractor-trailer went onto the sidewalk where it struck the traffic signal and road sign. The signal, police said, landed on the roof of the tractor-trailer and then struck a building on the eastern berm when Hoerner back the truck up several feet. Hoerner was not injured but will be cited for careless driving. Fischer’s Towing assisted at the 7:05 a.m. accident scene as did McConnellsburg Fire Police.
