Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge Recognizes County’s Honor Society Students

Free and Accepted Masons with Mount Zion Lodge #774 of McConnellsburg met Saturday night as part of their annual recognition of area high school students involved with the National Honor Society.

Held at the McConnellsburg Firehall, the March 23 banquet emceed by Worshipful Master Bradley S. Seville honored students from the Forbes Road, Central Fulton and Southern Fulton school districts.

Forbes Road advisor Jessica Vollbrecht told those on hand her students are not only humble but are willing to do anything they are asked. She added they really exemplify the values of the National Honor Society in being good scholars and active in the community.

Meanwhile, Carleen Grissinger, McConnellsburg High School Honor Society advisor, thanked the parents of her students for their assistance well as her students for their dedication in maintaining good grades.

Andrew Smith serves as president of the McConnellsburg chapter that includes fellow members Vice President David Welsh Jr., Secretary Brandi Welsh, Treasurer Sara Beth Winegardner, Gabrielle Danner, Dalton Garlock and Jessica Miller.

Appearing at his second banquet since taking over as Southern Fulton NHS advisor, Justin Sholes mentioned the great appreciation for these academically motivated students, who are also just as busy outside the classroom. Sholes thanked the parents, saying “kids don’t get to be this way on their own.”
