McConnellsburg Elementary School Celebrates Read Across America Week

At McConnellsburg Elementary and schools all over the United States, students and faculty celebrated Read Across America Week February 25 to March 1. The holiday was created by the National Reading Association in an effort to encourage young people to read. Read Across America Week is held on whichever school week is closest to the late Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. Students at MES celebrated by holding special dress-up days throughout the week that were inspired by various Dr. Seuss books. The week ended with a special “Dress As Your Favorite Book Character Day.” Pictured above are kindergarten top-place winners.
