Sympathy goes out to the families of Marie Shimer, Lena Richards Bergstresser, Carrie McKee and JoAnne Harr. All four women passed away last week.

McConnellsburg Lions Club will hold its Easter egg hunt for youths 12 and under at the Lions Club Park March 30 starting at 10 a.m. Forbes Road Lions Club Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.

Tobias McGarvey enjoyed an overnight visit with his sister, Justin and Tessa Strait, on Saturday in Hustontown.

Please keep Tristan Douglas, a cancer patient, in your prayers. Tristan is a Southern Fulton student and a star player for the Indians baseball team.

Rhoda Sowers and sister Bonnie, Mack Clevenger, Shari Washabaugh and Ida Strait enjoyed a “meet the new baby” party at the home of proud parents, Neil and Courtney Beckett. Lisa Kemp, the proud grandmother, took many pictures and was a wonderful hostess as usual. stresser home on Sunday were Earl and Pat Berkstresser of McConnellsburg; June and Bob Bennett of Carlisle; Barbara, Michael, Kristen Torcaso of Harrisburg; Heidi Peck and children Joel, Jonah and Jacob and Haley of McConnellsburg; Jackie and Ryan Berkstresser of Grove City, Pa.; and Sandra, Ava and Claire Holtz of Philadelphia. All had a very nice day.

As we are coming up on Easter weekend, hope everyone takes time out to think what the Easter holiday is all about. Think about how He died on the cross for us and rose again that we might have life everlasting.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match Saturday, March 30, at 1 p.m. Shells will be furnished and prizes awarded. The volunteer firemen will appreciate your support.

The Hustontown Fire Co. will also sponsor an auction on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. The kitchen opens at noon. Frozen foods, dry goods, snacks and miscellanous items will be offered for auction. The vendor will be Mike Sullivan. The firemen appreciate your support.

Household Hint: Take that old broom you are about to throw out and cut the birstles away then tie an old felt hat or a scrap of flannel around the end and you have a perfectly good floor polisher.
