Mottern Named Foul Shooting Champion

Southern Fulton eighthgrader Olivia Mottern was named The Knights of Columbus Pennsylvania State Foul Shooting U13 Champion on Saturday at Trinity High School near Camp Hill, Pa.

Mottern had competed in the local and district level foul-shooting competition at Chestnut Ridge High School in January, the regional level in Gettysburg two weeks ago, and then the state competition this past weekend.

To advance through the program, participants must shoot consecutive foul shots, with the highest score winning the event. Mottern shot 14/15 locally, 20/25 in the district contest, 25/25 at the regionals and 23/25 for the state title. Her scores will now be submitted with the top scores for each state and various countries to determine an international title holder which will be announced in late May.
