Samuel M. McMurtrie Waterfall, 55

Samuel M. McMurtrie, 55, Waterfall, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Fulton County Medical Center, at 6:01 a.m.

He was born in Huntingdon, November 4, 1957, a son of Betty (Rice) McMurtrie, Saxton and the late David McMurtrie.

He was united in marriage to Cindy J. (Notestine) McMurtrie on June 21, 1975, in Duncansville. She survives at home.

He was a 1975 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and loved farming and collecting Oliver tractors.

He worked as a heavy construction carpenter at Local 2274 Pittsburgh, for 30 years. He had previously worked for David McMurtrie Construction and later Daniel Miller Contractor.

He is survived by two sons: Michael A. McMurtrie of Saxton, and Theodore D., husband of Rebecca (Buseck) McMurtrie, Dudley; a nephew, Kenneth Summers, Six Mile Run, was reared in the McMurtrie home. He is also survived by the following grandchildren: Ciara, Taner, Callie, Abbygale McMurtrie and Alex Summers; three sisters: Sandra, wife of Mark Taylor, Saxton; Karen, wife of Terry Wyles, Saxton; and Susan McMurtrie, Chambersburg; and the following aunts and uncles: Betty Rice, Clearville; Ronald and Sally Horton of Saxton; and William and Maurine Lite, Chambersburg.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William McMurtrie, and an uncle, William Rice.
