CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Jana Malot, a cow-calf producer from Harrisonville and a board member of the Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC), was among 37 beef council directors and staff from 21 states who attended a recent orientation in Colorado, hosted by the Federation of State Beef Councils. The federation is a division of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), based in Centennial, Colo.

The two-day annual orientation provided information on the responsibilities of volunteer leaders and offered updates on beef checkoff programs and other industry information of importance to state beef council staff and volunteer board members.

The PBC is a member of the Federation of State Beef Councils, and, along with 44 other councils, collects the $1 per checkoff. The $1, paid by U.S. producers and importers, is used for national and international beef market development.
