SF Lady Indians Win First Round Of States

Southern Fulton picked up a big win in the opening round of PIAA Class A playoffs Saturday, downing Juniata Valley by a whopping 33 points. Ashley Roman scored a team-high 23 points and 12 rebounds during the opening round of the state tournament at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Teammate Macey Hollenshead followed with 18 points, seven assists and five steals. Taelor Morton also reached double figures with 12 points and one blocked shot. 26 machine scored Best of Show.

The top Late Model award went to McConnellsburg’s Marvin Winters, while Elwood Sord won top Late Model Sportsman. Jimmy Izer garnered top honors in the Pure Stocks, and Kenny Thomas was best appearing in the Hobby Stock class. Austin Shover’s fourcylinder won best in the Miscellaneous category.

Hagerstown will now turn to action on the track this weekend as Sunday will feature the rescheduled Brawl in the Fall from last October. The Late Models, 410 Sprints, Modifieds and 358 Sprints are on the Sunday afternoon racing program.

Hagerstown will also have a community yard sale and swap meet this Saturday beginning at 8 a.m., followed by 1 p.m. Test and Tune sessions for all classes of race cars.
