Two more drivers added their names to the win column so far in 410 Sprint car competition this season in central Pennsylvania.
In Saturday’s final afternoon program of the year at Lincoln Speedway, Myerstown’s Brent Marks turned in an impressive performance to secure his sixth career track win in the 25-lap 410 Sprint feature.
Sunday, Thomasville’s Greg Hodnett also turned in a dominating performance as he scored the season opener 25- lap 410 Sprint car win at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Marks, who started eighth on the grid Saturday at Lincoln, drove by race leader Bill Dietrich with 17 laps complete and went on to score the win in front of a big crowd on what was by far the best weather day of the three daytime shows run this season at Lincoln.
Lance Dewease finished second at Lincoln over Cory Haas, Dietrich and Logan Schuchart. Jeff Rohrbaugh started on the pole and led all 20 laps of the seasonopening 358 Sprint car feature at Lincoln. It was his second-straight opening day win in the Pigeon Hills. Shane Hoff raced home in the runner-up spot over Eric Tomecek, Ryan Wilson and Tyler Ross.
Selinsgrove’s season opener came on a gorgeous late winter Sunday, and the place was packed to watch Hodnett drive from his fourth starting spot to the $4,000 victory.
Front-row starter Mark Smith led the first 11 laps before tangling with the lapped car of Michael Ruttkamp. This turned the lead over to Hodnett, who had already closed in on the leader prior to the crash. Hodnett had to withstand several more cautions, including one with three laps to go, before capturing his 14th career feature win at the track. Hodnett’s margin of victory was nearly three seconds at the checkered flag.
Fred Rahmer finished in the runner-up spot over Pat Cannon, Blane Heimbach and Dewease.
Hagerstown Speedway’s Race A Rama car show is in the history books as Late Model racer Jerry Bard’s No.
