Police Respond To Boro Accident
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg responded to a tractor-trailer accident in McConnellsburg Borough on Tuesday, March 5. Reports state that a westbound 2005 Volvo attempted to make a right-hand turn from Lincoln Way onto North Second Street at 7:09 p. m. The truck’s trailer struck a cement pole at the intersection, causing rear axle damage.
Police did not release the name of the driver, but did indicate the person would be cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Man Treated After Accident
A 35-year- old McConnellsburg man was transported to Fulton County Medical Center on Tuesday, March 5, for treatment of unknown injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident.
According to reports, Michael T. Ritchey was travelling northbound on Great Cove Road when he lost control of his 1990 Ford Taurus at 3:15 p.m. The car travelled onto the berm and into a wooded area before hitting a tree head-on.
Ritchey was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
Thirty-nine-year-old Hagerstown, Md., resident John H. Hill has been cited for theft of services after he allegedly disposed of his garbage in an unauthorized dumpster. The incident occurred at the Sheetz convenience store in McConnellsburg on March 2 at 6:35 p.m. Charges will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Local Man Involved In Bedford County Crash
A Harrisonville area man riding a 2009 Yamaha Venture was involved in an accident with a Chrysler Caravan on February 25 in Bedford County.
According to state police reports from Bedford, Kenneth Williams, 62, of Bedford, attempted to make a lefthand turn but turned into the path of a motorcycle driven by Dwight C. Schooley, 53, of Harrisonville. The 9:28 a.m. crash at the Quick ‘n’ Easy Car Wash occurred along Lincoln Highway in Snake Spring Township.
Man Cited For Trespassing
A 22-year- old McConnellsburg man has been cited by state police for trespassing at the Cardinal Glen Apartments in McConnellsburg.
State police alleged Hakeem Lowry Jefferson was found at the apartment complex on Tuesday, February 26, at 4:15 p.m. Jefferson had reportedly been given prior notice he was not permitted on the property. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Three Accused Of Fight
Three individuals, including two McConnellsburg residents, were involved in a 7 p.m. physical fight at the Cardinal Glen Apartments in McConnellsburg on Friday, March 8. According to state police reports, those involved were McConnellsburg residents Rebecca Lynn Burke, 44, and 33-yearold Richard Douglas Seville, both of McConnellsburg, and George William Houtz Jr., 50.
Approximately 40 Hydrocodone pills were stolen from 10676 Lincoln Highway, McConnellsburg, on Friday, March 8, state police reported. The theft reportedly occurred at 9 a.m., and the victim was a 34-year-old Mc- Connellsburg man. Two Charged In Altercation
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg responded to an incident of harassment that occurred at 421 Lincoln Way East in Mc- Connellsburg Borough.
State police alleged Mark S. Seville, 54, of Mc- Connellsburg, and a 17- year-old McConnellsburg girl were involved in an altercation at 11: 30 a. m. Seville and the juvenile are accused of striking each other during the fight. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
A 46-year- old McConnellsburg man told state police investigators that unknown individuals dented the side of his camper parked at 409 R&D Lane in Todd Township. The mischief occurred between 11 a.m. on March 4 and 3 p.m. on March 8. Anyone with further information linked to this case is urged to call state police Trooper Miller at 717-485- 3131.
Juvenile Cited In Crash
A 16-year-old Needmore girl was cited following a single vehicle accident along Great Cove Road on Sunday, March 10. State police said the girl was travelling northbound through Belfast Township when her 2007 Ford Focus crossed both lanes of traffic and struck a sign along the berm at 7:30 a.m. The teen driver was treated for moderate injuries at Fulton County Medical Center. She had been wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred just south of the intersection of Wertzville Road.
Orbisonia Resident Faces DUI Charges
A southern Huntingdon County resident was arrested in mid-February for driving under the influence following a traffic accident along Great Cove Road.
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg said 22- year-old Colby Gene Barmount was travelling southbound on February 19 when his 1997 Chevrolet S-10 travelled onto the berm. The truck struck a utility pole, shearing it in half with its front bumper. Following impact, police stated the truck spun clockwise down a steep embankment and rolled onto its roof.
Police did not indicate if Barmount was wearing a seat belt or suffered injuries during the 1:25 a.m. accident in Todd Township. Charges against Barmount will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Woman Accused Of Theft By Deception
A 48-year- old McConnellsburg woman is being accused of theft by deception after she tricked people into giving her money.
In an interview with state police investigators, Nancy Louise Stotler said she asked various people between January 1 and February 21 to donate money to help her sister who was reportedly being hospitalized. Stotler allegedly admitted to deceiving people and her sister was never hospitalized.
State police Trooper Watkins is asking anyone who may have donated money to Stotler to contact the McConnellsburg barracks at 717-485-3131.
Two Cited In Fight
Two McConnellsburg residents face charges of harassment following an alleged physical altercation at 45 Hillside Estates in Todd Township. Those charged by state police in the March 7, 2:15 p.m. incident were Hakeem Lawrence Lowery Jefferson, 22, and 42-year-old Antoinette Marie Lowery. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Police Investigating Bus Fire
Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Mike Eppolito of Hollidaysburg is currently investigating a bus fire that occurred along the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 on Sunday, March 10. The 4 p.m. fire in Brush Creek Township reportedly involved a bus belonging to Martz Trailways of Wilkes Barre, Pa. Antique Door Knobs Stolen
Several antique door knobs were stolen from 641 Everetts Road in Thompson Township between August 19 and August 26, 2012, state police reported. Victim is a 75-year-old McConnellsburg woman. Anyone with further information concerning this burglary and theft is asked to call state police Trooper Sprague at 717-485-3131.
Two Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg were dispatched to investigate a twovehicle accident that occurred along Breezy Point Road Monday morning.
According to state police reports, Shannon A. Kreps, 19, of Warfordsburg, pulled her westbound 1990 Mazda onto the left-hand berm to deliver newspapers. Kreps’ vehicle was struck head-on by an oncoming 1999 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Eliza J. Rubeck, 60, of Mc- Connellsburg. Police added Rubeck was heading eastbound and pulled off the Dublin Township roadway while rounding a corner at 6:43 a.m.
Kreps and her passenger, Dylan T. Keefer, 20, of Hancock, Md., both suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Fulton County Medical Center for treatment. They were wearing seat belts as was Rubeck, who was not harmed.
Rubeck will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic.
