Philly Landlord Pleads Guilty To Killing Tenant
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A man who ran an unlicensed Philadelphia boarding house has pleaded guilty to killing a tenant who was behind on his rent.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports 31-year-old Miguel Davilla was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty Thursday.
Prosecutors said Davilla was changing the locks on the doors in March 2009 when tenant Roben (ROH'- ben) Woodson arrived home. The 55-year-old actor and freelance photographer owed Davilla rent.
Investigators said Davilla struck Woodson at least 10 times with a baseball bat, causing multiple skull, arm and hand fractures.
A tenant called police the next day and officers discovered Woodson's body in a large crate in the living room.
