Vesta H. Marquart
Vesta Helsel Marquart, 88, resident of Homewood at Martinsburg, died Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the nursing facility.
She was born in Wells Tannery, a daughter of the late Harry and Eva (Lowery) Helsel.
Surviving are two sisters: Leila (Helsel) Decker and Alice (Helsel) Hann and a brother, Harry David Helsel.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: George Helsel, Walter Barton and Roy Barton, as well as two sisters: Retha May Helsel and Elda Helsel Siler.
She worked as a supervisor at the United States Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg. When she retired, she moved back to Fulton County where she resided in Wells Tannery for many years.
She enjoyed helping her family and neighbors in any way she could. Some examples included mowing neighbor’s lawns, refinishing family members’ furniture, helping nephews with their residential moves, taking nieces on vacations, hosting large family gatherings where she cooked the entire meal, and helping with various home repairs. She also enjoyed doing woodworking in her workshop. Her generosity touched the lives of many. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will held in the chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Everett, Saturday, March 9, 2013. Rev. Donnie Cross will officiate.
