Melvin E. Mellott

Needmore, 83

Melvin E. “Mickey” Mellott, 83, Needmore, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at Meritus Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

He was born in Harrisonville, Pa., November 2, 1929, the son of the late Oliver and Louetta ( Deshong) Mellott.

He served in the U.S. Army as a private during the Korean War.

He was a member of Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore.

He was a member of the NRA and was a retired office clerk from the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.

He is survived by sisters: Beulah Mumma of Falling Waters, W.Va.; Vera Hann of Harrisonville; Hilda (wife of Ira) Daniels of Needmore; and Elsie (wife of Allen) Jackson of Breezewood; a brother, Paul (husband of Linda) Mellott of Needmore; several nieces and nephews and also his extended family: Myreta Elvey, Jill Plessinger, Jack Elvey and Joel Elvey.

He was preceded in death by brothers: Fred E. Mellott and Harry A. Mellott.

Services will be held at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore at 1 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, with Pastor William Swope officiating.

Interment will be at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore.

There will be visitation Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Friday at the church.

Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
