Veryl A. Dodson Wells Tannery, 85
Veryl Allen Dodson, 85, Wells Tannery, was called home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Shermans Valley, Pa., on June 5, 1927, a son of the late Edith (Colledge) and Chester Dodson.
He was united in marriage in March of 1952, to Hazel Marie Clark in Winchester, Va. She preceded him in death on December 4, 1986.
During his life he was a partner of Dodson Brothers Lumber Co. in Hopewell until his retirement. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in Germany.
He was a member of the Hopewell VFW and Six Mile Run American Legion where he became very active following his retirement. He was also a member of the Hopewell Sportsman’s Association. He enjoyed spending time attending public auctions and country music functions with his friends.
He is survived by a large, loving family including three daughters: Paulett, wife of Jeff Chamberlain, of Everett; Sydney, wife of Dennis Ford, of Wells Tannery; Tammy, wife of Rocky Souders, of Waterfall; and a sister, Dolores Wright, of Woodbury, Pa., and two brothers: Clair Dodson, of Hopewell, Pa.; and Darrel Dodson, of Hopewell, Pa.; and by grandchildren: Francis and Trenton Garlick, Ryan Chamberlain and Stacey Mellott; great-grandchildren: Cassie Zimmerman, Matthew and Skylar Garlick, Gabriella Mellott, and Mc-Kayla Ott; and great-great-grandchildren: Selena Garlick and Neal Zimmerman. Veryl is also survived by two special friends, Dorothy Rohrer and Wanda Edwards, both of Waterfall, who helped in many special ways.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Dodson, on July 25, 2005.
Funeral services were held at Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc., Broad Top City, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 27. Pastor Joseph Duvall officiated. Interment was at Shermans Valley Cemetery, Hopewell, with full military honors conducted by the Broad Top Area Honor Guard.
