Trial Ordered For Pa. Woman In Grandmother’s Death
EASTON, Pa. (AP) – A woman has been ordered to stand trial in the death of her grandmother following a home invasion in her eastern Pennsylvania home a year ago.
The (Easton) Express- Times says 28-year-old Rebecca Johnson was arraigned Friday on charges of criminal homicide, conspiracy, aggravated assault, burglary, reckless endangering and other counts.
Northampton County prosecutors allege that she helped plan the January 2012 home invasion at the Wilson residence of 76-year-old Carrie Smith, who suffered a heart attack hours afterward. Coroner Zachary Lysek testified that the heart attack played a major role in her death two months later.
Defense attorney Matthew Potts questioned the timing of documents and interviews but didn't directly challenge Lysek's testimony. He declined comment after the hearing. Two men have also been charged in the robbery.
