Trial In Murder Of Elderly WWII Veteran Delayed

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The trial of a woman charged in the shooting death of an elderly World War II veteran in north Philadelphia 2-1/2 years ago has been postponed until Tuesday due to a defense attorney's illness.

Nineteen-year-old India Spellman is charged in the August 2010 slaying of 87- year-old George Greaves in front of his home in the city's Cedarbrook neighborhood. She is also charged with the gunpoint robbery of a woman about two hours earlier.

A 14-year-old co-defendant was convicted of second degree murder in juvenile court and is now in a juvenile facility in western Pennsylvania.

He testified as a prosecution witness that Spellman suggested the two robberies and used her gun in both crimes.
