McConnellsburg FFA member DeAnne Dickerson was again able to showcase her musical talent early this month when she performed the national anthem at FFA’s midwinter convention during the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

DeAnne opened the convention’s ceremonies with her a cappella rendition that had the crowd of more than 3,000 FFA members from all over the state cheering. Earlier in the day, she and several other Pennsylvania

FFA members, were honored at a reception for school administrators and state dignitaries for their participation in the National FFA Convention.

Last fall in Indianapolis, Ind., her performance of several popular songs was nationally televised as part of FFA’s American Degree ceremony.

Dickerson has been taking voice lessons for three years years and was chosen last spring as Rising Star, a local singing competition for young people in Bedford and Fulton counties. Winning this honor enabled her to record an album of her songs this past summer. “I really enjoy singing and performing” stated DeAnne. “It’s so much fun to be able to interact with the crowd and get to know other performers. I hope I can continue to perform and improve my talent.”

DeAnne plans to continue to compete in state and national FFA talent competitions.
