River Oaks Helpline A Christian crisis counseling/prayer phone line is now available. RECREATION

Teen Night Teen night at Fulton County Library was rescheduled due to the weather to Friday, February 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. All teens age 13 to 19 are welcome to attend and help plan the annual teen art contest and Earth Day festival as well as enjoy a special meal, Wii, board games, crafts and more.

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center February 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Donation is a $1. Everyone is welcome! Weather permitting. For more information, call 717-294-6020.

Senior Center Activities February actitivites for Warfordsburg Senior are as follows: February 1 - breakfast at Hopewell Senior Center; February 8 - shopping at Chambersburg; February 9 - open mic night; February 12 - “Barry” program; February 15 - game day/shred day (have papers that need to be shred?); February 18 - center closed; February 20 - celebrate Hoodie Hoo Day; February 22 - bowling for $$$; February 26 - Roadkill trip for breakfast; February 27 - wii dance. Night Of A Cappella Music Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute invites all to attend a night of a cappella music Wednesday, February 6, at 7:30 p.m. The institute is located 1-1/2 miles west of Harrisonville along Rt. 30 at the old Green Hill School.

Benefit Auction A benefit auction will be held at Chambersburg Mennonite Church, Friday, February 22 (snow date February 23). Food will be available at 5 p.m. and auction begins at 5:30 p.m. New items available along with gift certificates, handmade items and collectibles.

Little League Registration Fulton County Little League will hold open registration for the 2013 season at the Little League Clubhouse located at Lions Community Park in Mc- Connellsburg. The dates: Friday, February 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, February 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls can register for Tee Ball (5-6 years old), Farm League (7- 8 years old) and Little League (9-12 years old). Registration fee is $35 first child and $30 for each additional child. Firstyear players should bring a copy of their birth certificate. Registration forms are being mailed to Farm League and Little League players who were on teams during the 2012 season. Auction/Dance Ashlyn’s Angels will hold a benefit auction/ dance March 23, 2013, at McConnellsburg American Legion. Doors open at 3 p.m. and auction starts at 5 p.m. Admission tickets are $5 each and on sale now. Anyone wishing to purchase or help sell tickets or make a donation to be auctioned off, please contact Nancy Bivens at 717-799-7343 or Patti Mills at 717-294-3676. Proceeds benefit Jeff Evertts, who is battling lung cancer.

Bus Trip To Sight And Sound The Knobsville United Methodist Church is taking a bus to Sight and Sound theatre in Lancaster Saturday, April 27, for the production of “Noah.” There are a few remaining seats available on the bus. Please call Joann at 717-987-3164 for more information.

The 29th annual Sweetheart Ball will be held February 9, 2013, at McConnellsburg American Legion. Tickets are $35 per couple. Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner and gourmet desserts at 6:30 p.m., followed by dancing, live and silent auctions. Funds raised will benefit Tristan Douglas and family and other local charities. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Bi-Valley Softball Registration Bi-Valley girls softball registration will be held for girls in grades K-8 at McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends building Friday, February 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Registration is $50 for the travel team. Looking to field 12U an 14U travel teams that play in Chambersburg Suburban League. 12U games start near the end of April and run through mid-June. 14U games start near the end of May and run through mid-July. Girls over 12 years old will have to schedule the 14U team and not the local summer league. Registration fee will be $25 for the local summer league (ages under 12). Summer league starts off with a short camp after school is out. Games to start in June.

Hall Walking Hall walking will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the months of February and March, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McConnellsburg High School.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the alumni building basement in McConnellsburg.

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, it is held the fourth Monday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch call 717-294-6020.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Free Dental Screenings Free dental screenings for ages birth to 18 will be held at Fulton County Partnership Dental Clinic (Overly-Raker building) February 1, 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. Benefit Book Sale More than 60,000 new and used books of all types, plus CDs, maps, sheet music, magazines, videotapes and artwork, will be offered for sale at bargain prices at the 29th annual Friends of Legal Services Book Sale at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg May 10-12. Babysitting Fundraiser Cadette Girl Scout Troop 1597 and adult leaders are hosting a Valentine’s Day babysitting fundraiser Thursday, February 14, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the basement of McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. Community Victory Garden The Fulton County Master Gardeners would like to invite the public to participate in the second-year community Victory Garden within McConnellsburg Borough held Wednesdays from April to September, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The gardens will be at Second Street behind the McConnellsburg Firehall. There will be a small fee associated with this program: $20 per person or $30 family to defray material costs for the 2013 season. A meeting of those interested will be held to discuss the program. Pesticide Training Penn State Extension Pesticide Certification Training for private applicators will be held at the following local locations: Huntingdon County – January 31, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Southern Huntingdon High School; Fulton County – February 26, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at McConnellsburg High School cafeteria. Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, February 11, at 9 a.m. for a Valentine’s party at K’s Place.

Legion Meeting American Legion Post 561 active members regular meeting is the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Auxiliary members meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Members of both organizations are urged to attend.

Scout Meeting Boy Scouts of America Troop 43 meets every Friday night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the VFW, 518 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg. Open to all boys 11-18 years of age. Farm Women Meeting Fulton County Society of Farm Women will meet at the home of Dorothy Randler Thursday, February 7, at 7 p.m. Program is a spoon meal, so bring favorite dish plus recipe.

Pancake Supper Whips Cove Church will hold a pancake supper Saturday, February 8, at 5 p.m. Served will be buttermilk pancakes, old-fashioned buckwheat cakes, eggs, pork puddin, sausage, ham, sausage gravy, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. Donations accepted and greatly appreciated. The church is located two miles south of Town Hill, I-70 Exit 156 on Rt. 643.

Fasnacht Day Knobsville United Methodist Church will make plain, powdered and cinnamon sugar donut holes on Tuesday, February 12. The free donut holes will be available for pickup beginning at 5 a.m. at the church. Advanced orders for can be placed by calling Rhonda at 987-3934 or Joann at 987-3164. On Tuesday, February 12, orders can be placed by calling Knobsville United Methodist Church at 987-3759 from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. Walk-ins welcome, too. Free coffee will also be offered.
