Local Man Waives Hearing
A Warfordsburg area man waived his right to a preliminary hearing during the January 9 session of Bedford County Central Court.
Seventy-one-year-old Glenn A. Grubb is charged with 129 counts of forgery, 203 counts of theft by deception and 203 counts of theft by unlawful taking. Charges stem from allegations that Grubb was “submitting checks in his name to which he was not authorized.” The checks written between June 9, 2006, and June 18, 2012, totalled $42,930.25.
A burgundy colored wallet containing $628 in cash was stolen from the parking lot of Cardinal Glen Apartments between 1:45 p.m. and 3:49 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15. State police said the victim in this case is a 57- year- old female from Mc- Connellsburg. Truck Strikes Deer
A northbound 2006 Freightliner truck struck a white- tailed deer along Great Cove Road on Wednesday, January 16, according to state police reports. Driver Edward J. Cheslaw Jr., 68, of Plymouth, Pa., was not injured in the 6:44 p.m. crash near the intersection of Battle Ridge Road. He was wearing a seat belt.
Area Man Accused Of Stealing Ring
A McConnellsburg man has been cited by state police for theft by unlawful taking in connection with an incident that occurred at his 11032 Lincoln Highway residence. Police alleged between January 1 and 8 Daniel Stevenson Pluta II stole a gold diamond anniversary ring belonging to a 71-year-old McConnellsburg woman. Charges will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Car Hits Pole
A northbound 2002 Saturn SCI became disabled on Tuesday, January 15, when it ran off Great Cove Road and struck a utility pole. State police said 19-year-old Three Springs resident Brendan Griffith was not injured in the 11:30 p.m. accident in Dublin Township. He was using a seat belt.
Charges of harassment are pending against 46-yearold Needmore resident Douglas James Dunkin, according to state police reports. Dunkin is accused of being involved in a physical confrontation ataaresidence on the 4000 block of Timber Ridge Road on Saturday, January 12, at 10 p.m. Following the alleged incident, the victim, a 41-year-old female, reported the altercation to state police troopers.
A 2012 Peterbilt 7901 pulling a tanker- trailer struck a guiderail at the intersection of Great Cove and Bethel Church roads on December 28. State police said 49-year-old Steven A. Mack of Bowie, Md., was attempted to maneuver a U-turn when the crash occurred at 10:08 p.m. Mack was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
Driver To Be Cited
A Mason, Ohio, man will be cited for driving a vehicle at unsafe speeds in connection with a two-vehicle accident on December 24 along the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.
According to state police reports, Nishad Salim, 30, attempted to change lanes when he lost control of his 2004 Toyota Camry. Salim’s car rear- ended a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Todd A. Brinton, 39, of Altoona, Pa. Following impact, Salim’s car drove into the median strip where it came to a rest in a snowbank.
Brinton, Salim and Salim’s passenger, Ershad Jisha, 25, also of Mason, Ohio, were all wearing seat belts. They were uninjured in the 4:19 p. m. accident in Bethel Township.
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg are currently searching for the whereabouts of a runaway juvenile missing since Friday, January 18.
Police reported 17-yearold Brienna Cecilia Rank was last seen between 12:35 a.m. and 7 a.m. at 1906 Lincoln Way West in McConnellsburg Borough. She is described as 5 feet, 5 inches, 132 pounds and having brown, shoulderlength hair with red highlights. It is currently unknown what she was wearing when she left her residence, however, it may possibly include black shoes and a grey Columbia jacket.

A McConnellsburg woman was transported to Chambersburg Hospital for treatment of minor injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident along Buchanan Trail in Franklin County last month.
State police in Chambersburg reported Leslie A. Miller, 53, was travelling eastbound through Peters Township on December 24 when she lost control of her 2001 Toyota Tundra on the iceand snow-covered roadway. The vehicle became disabled when it struck an embankment with its front bumper at 3:26 p.m.
It is unknown if Miller was wearing a seat belt. Police did indicate she was “travelling at a speed greater than was reasonable and prudent” for existing weather conditions.
Local Man Cited For Drug Possession
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg have cited 24-year- old Needmore resident Andrew Lee Anderson with possession of a small amount of marijuana and the use or possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges stem from an incident that occurred at 102 Lincoln Way West in McConnellsburg Borough on Friday, January 18, at 3:43 p.m. Charges have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
Officials at Johnnie’s Motel in McConnellsburg reported a burglary occurred sometime January 18 or 19, state police said. Approximately $250 was stolen from a safe located at the 709 Lincoln Way East business. Vehicle Strikes Tree
A 16-year-old boy from Warfordsburg escaped harm when his westbound 1997 Chevrolet S-10 struck a tree along Bethel Church Road.
According to state police reports, the juvenile was travelling through Bethel Township at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, when he failed to slow down while negotiating a turn. The vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree with its rightfront corner. Following impact, it rolled over once and came to a rest in some brush just west of the intersection of Cider Mill Road.
The boy was wearing a seat belt. He will be cited by state police for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Safety Checkpoint Conducted
Three troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in McConnellsburg conducted a traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of Lincoln Way East and Route 30. Between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, the troopers stopped 40 vehicles and is- sued 16 warnings for observed violations.
Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg are continuing to investigate an alleged harassment that occurred on Friday, January 11, at 708 Lincoln Way East, Mc- Connellsburg. Police said a 37-year-old Fort Littleton area man observed an unknown individual throwing a cup onto the ground at 11:20 a.m. The individual then reportedly threatened to physically assault the man before leaving the scene.
Man Accused Of Striking Three
A Blain, Pa., man is alleged to have struck three individuals at 122 West Walnut Street ine McConnellsburg Borough on Saturday, January 19.
State police reported Dennis Howard Bechtel, 41, arrived at the residence at 9 p.m. and became involved in a physical confrontation with a 44-year-old male, a 37-yearold female and a 36-year-old male, all of McConnellsburg. Charges against Bechtel have been filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
The windshield of a vehicle was shattered while parked along West Walnut Street in McConnellsburg Borough on Sunday, January 20, at 12:30 a.m. Victim is a 24-year-old McConnellsburg woman. Anyone having further information linked to this case of criminal mischief should immediately contact state police Trooper Doriguzzi at 717-485-3131.
A cellphone was stolen from the McConnellsburg Firehall between October 15 and November 7, according to state police. Dennis Allen Seville, 18, of McConnellsburg, has been charged with theft in connection with the incident, police noted.
A 14- year- old girl informed state police her cellphone was taken between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. while she was attending a basketball game at McConnellsburg High School on January 14. A Wells Tannery man already incarcerated is facing additional charges that he made terroristic threats toward a Broad Top Township woman. According to reports, Kyle Dwayne Barton allegedly penned several letters to a woman that included vulgar, threatening and terroristic language. The letters were reportedly sent between April 18 and October 26, 2012, police said.
A McConnellsburg woman has been charged with driving under the influence as a result of a hit-andrun accident in Franklin County.
Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg said on Monday, January 21, 24-yearold Tyeisha Marie Spriggs failed to negotiate a curve on the 14000 block of Lincoln Way West in Peters Township. Her vehicle ran off the roadway and partially rolled onto its side. She is accused of fleeing the scene but was located a short time later.
Pleads Not Guilty To Murder
A 23-year-old former Fulton County man has entered a plea of not guilty to the September murder of 18- year- old Calvin Beam in Chambersburg. Steffawn Spriggs entered the not guilty plea after waiving his right to formal arraignment held before Fulton County Court of Common Pleas Judge Douglas Herman on January 16.
