The final National Sprint Car Poll rankings for the 2012 season were released last week by the Knoxville, Iowa based poll.
For the fifth time in his career (matching his five World of Outlaw championships), Donny Schatz ranked the number one driver in the North American 410 Sprint car poll. He received 20 our of 24 first place votes to place him on top.
Sammy Swindell, who led the Outlaws with wins ranked second in the poll followed by WoO driver Craig Dollansky.
Central PA racer Greg Hodnett of Thomaville came in fourth in the rankings after his 15-win season in Pennsylvania along with the Williams Grove championship.
Joey Saldana was fifth over Steve Kinser, Dale Blaney, Tim Shaffer, Tim Kaeding and Kyle Larson.
Other PA racers to make the final ranking were Danny Dietrich ( 13th), Daryn Pittman (14th), Brian Montieth ( 20th) and Lance Dewease(23rd).
Hanover’s Logan Schuchart was named the 2012 National 410 Sprint car Rookie of the Year while Williams Grove Speedway’s Kathy Hughes and Justin Loh were named 2012 Promoters of the Year. Over on the 360 sprint car side of things, Jason Johnson ranked as the top driver in the National 360 Sprint Car Poll over Wayne Johnson, Shane Stewart, Brady Bacon and Tim Crawley. Pennsylvania’s overall 358 sprint car champion and Williams Grove and Selinsgrove champion Pat Cannon finished seventh in the poll.
Susquehanna Speedway Park released its upcoming schedule and it kicks off with a Stock Car Saturday show on April 6 featuring the 358 late models and street stocks along with Super Sportsman.
SSP will have five 410 sprint car shows during the season as well as three Steel Block Bandit late model events. The track will also host the USAC Wingless Sprints in June.
