Little League Registration Fulton County Little League will hold open registration for the 2013 season at the Little League Clubhouse located at Lions Community Park in Mc- Connellsburg. The dates: Friday, January 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, January 26, from 9 a.m. to noon; Friday, February 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, February 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls can register for Tee Ball (5-6 years old), Farm League (7-8 years old) and Little League (9-12 years old). Registration fee is $35 first child and $30 for each additional child. First-year players should bring a copy of their birth certificate. Registration forms are being mailed to Farm League and Little League players who were on teams during the 2012 season. Senior Center Activities Activities at McConnellsburg Senior Center for January are as follows: nickel bingo, 9:30 a.m. - January 11, 14, 18, 23, 25, 28; couch potato exercises, 11 a.m. - January 10, 17, 24, 31; nutrition class for seniors/craft class, 10 a.m. - January 15; Chambersburg trip, 9 a.m. - January 18; center closed - January 21; K’s place, 8 a.m. - January 22; Oak Forest Restaurant and Better Days Thrift Store, 11 a.m. - January 24; dime bingo, 9:30 a.m. - January 30.

Hoop Shoot Elks Hoop Shoot will be held January 14 at McConnellsburg Elementary School. More information may be obtained by calling 485-0221 or 377-3643.

Volleyball Tournament A volleyball tournament will be held January 19 at 9 a.m. at Forbes Road High School gym. Age brackets are 11-15, 16-20 and 21+. Cost is $5 per team member. Team form must be submitted by January 17. Forms are available in the high school office and local businesses. Admittance is $2 per adult and $1 per student. Concessions will be available. Bi-Valley Softball Registration Bi-Valley girls softball registration will be held for girls in grades K-8 at McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends building Saturday, January 12, from 9 a.m. to noon; Thursday, January 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, February 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Registration is $50 for the travel team. Looking to field 12U an 14U travel teams that play in Chambersburg Suburban League. 12U games start near the end of April and run through mid-June. 14U games start near the end of May and run through mid-July. Girls over 12 years old will have to schedule the 14U team and not the local summer league. Registration fee will be $25 for the local summer league (ages under 12). Summer league starts off with a short camp after school is out. Games to start in June.

Sweetheart Ball The 29th annual Sweetheart Ball will be held February 9, 2013, at McConnellsburg American Legion. Tickets are $35 per couple and include a salad and dinner at 6 p.m. and gourmet desserts at 6:30 p.m., followed by dancing, live and silent auctions. Funds raised will benefit Tristan Douglas and family and other local charities. Music by DJ Shane Imler, Northeastern Entertainment. To purchase tickets call 717-294-3180 or 717-485-5930.

Hall Walking Hall walking will start at McConnellsburg High School January 10. It will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the months of January, February and March, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Walking is also available at the alumni community building every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mic Night Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center January 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Food and drink will be available. Donation is a $1. All of the proceeds will be donated to Bob Burton, a Silver Creek Band musician who has cancer. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 717-294-6020.

Open Stage There will be an open stage at Hustontown Fire Co. Saturday, January 26, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. everyone is invited to attend.

HEALTH

Nutrition Class Fulton County nutrition awareness classes are held at Warfordsburg Senior Center on the third Monday of every month. When the third Monday is a holiday, classes are held the fourth Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. To register or sign up for lunch, call 717-294-6020.

McConnellsburg AA Meetings The McConnellsburg Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. every week at the Alumni Building Basement, McConnellsburg.

Free Blood Pressure Screenings Free blood pressure screenings will be given at the following locations: Mc- Connellsburg Senior Center the first Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Hann’s Apartments the second Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Warfordsburg Senior Center the third Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Hustontown Senior Center the third Thursday of every month from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Yoga Classes Reaching Wellness yoga classes will be held for all ages every Wednesday, 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., at Community State Bank. Call for cost and to register at 717-485- 4492.

Fitness Classes Reaching Wellness Presents Work It Out fitness classes for women. All fitness levels welcome. Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime Community Wellness/Silver Sneakers/Prime will be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Fulton County Medical Center cardiopulmonary rehab gym. Comforter Knotting Comforter knotting will be held Thursday, January 10, and Friday, January 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Knobsville Church of the Brethren. Comforters are being knotted for Cumberland Vally Relief Center.

Tree Drop-off Live Christmas tree drop-off will be held at R&D Recycling, 27438 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg, on Friday, January 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, January 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Trees will be used for wildlife habitat. Trees must be free of all decorations.

Quilt Show Cumberland Valley Relief Center will host a quilt show January 24-26. Thursday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 4225 Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg. The show is a great opportunity to view new hand-quilted pieces that have been made in the Cumberland Valley. These quilts will later be auctioned at the PA Relief Sale to be held in Harrisburg at the Farm Show Complex April 5 and 6, 2013. Over 100 hand-quilted pieces will be displayed. Free admission.

Computer Classes Free one-on-one computer classes on topic of your choice will be held at Fulton County Library, Tuesday, January 15. Call 485-5327 to sign up for a time with Coyle Free Library reference librarian Jill Yaich, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

FAFSA Workshop A FAFSA completion workshop will be held at McConnellsburg High School Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 6 p.m., in the high school cafeteria. For questions, call the guidance office at 485-7048.

Attention Teens Need a graduation project or community service hours? McConnellsburg library is looking for a motivated, organized teen to run the teen art contest. See Jamie Brambley at the library.

BINGO

Bingo Shade Gap Fire Co. will hold bingo at the Shade Gap Ladies Auxiliary building every Thursday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m.

McCbg. Bingo McConnellsburg Fire Co. will hold bingo every Monday and Friday of each week. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

MEETINGS

4-H Shooting Club Meeting The 4-H Shooting Club will meet Thursday, January 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. All are welcome. Call 717-331-4311 for more information.

Sportsmen’s League Meeting Fulton County Sportsmen’s League will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the stone house at the trout nursery January 18. New officers and board members were elected during the December meeting.

Singles Meeting Knobsville Singles will meet Monday, January 14, at 9 a.m. at K’s Place

Quilt Club Meeting Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, January 19, at 10 a.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library, North First Street, McConnellsburg. Following the business meeting, election of offices and establishing committees, a class will be held on making a sewing case. Items needed for the class are one piece of 4-inch-by- 9-inch wool, one piece of 4-inch-by-9-inch coordinating fabric, 4-inch piece of contrasting wool, needles, thread and scissors.

FOOD AND DINING

Free Meal A free meal will be served the second Tuesday of each month at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 North Third Street. Please join in for good fellowship.

Italian Dinner An Italian dinner will be held at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Faith Center January 19, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted. More information may be obtained by calling 717-294-3028.

Potpie Supper Trinity United Church of Christ in Fort Loudon will hold its chicken, ham and beef potpie supper Saturday, January 26, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Community Center located at Hawbaker Drive and Mullen Street. Eat in or order carryouts. Adult meals are $7.50. Meals for children ages 7-12 are $5 and under age 7 eat free. The menu includes pepper slaw, applesauce, pickles, cake, punch and coffee. The meal is all-you-can-eat served buffet style.

Free Meal A free meal will be held January 8, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 7404 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville. Pasta, salad, beverage and dessert will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
