Sorority News

Xi Eta Lambda, McConnellsburg Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, was very busy the fourth quarter of this year.

Service projects included donating yarn, food items and Christmas gifts to our “adopted grandmother.” Gift items were also sent to our “adopted serviceman.” The sisters stuffed stockings and helped wrap gifts for “Treasures for Kids” project, sponsored by the Catholic Mission. A meal was also provided for our honorary member.

The sorority craft auction was held in November as a fundraising event. Each sister brought three handcrafted or homemade items, and Loren Leese auctioned the items to the highest bidder.

Christmas was celebrated with a meal at the home of Marie Shimer. The tables were decorated with stuffed stockings and personalized ornaments. Beta buddy gifts were exchanged.

Plans were made for our Envoy evening and for attending the state Pennsylvania Fair Queen Contest in Hershey in January.
