Eyecare Practices Donate To “I Care” Food Drive

Patients and employees of seven local eyecare practices collected more than 1,400 nonperishable items during a month-long “I Care” food drive.

The items were donated to food pantries and soup kitchens in Franklin, Fulton, and Washington counties.

The I Care drive was started by Ludwick Eye Center in 2010. This year fellow eyecare practices in the three-county area were invited to participate.

“We know our local food pantries have incredible need throughout the year, but especially around the holidays,” said Dr. David J. Ludwick of Ludwick Eye Center. “Speaking for all of the participating eyecare practices, we are so pleased with the generosity our patients and employees have shown during this food drive, realizing that in many cases it is their neighbors who are benefitting.”

Practices taking part in I Care include:

Allegany Optical – Hagerstown, Chambersburg, Waynesboro and Greencastle

Daley Family Eye Care, McConnellsburg

Eyecare Professionals, Hagerstown

Future Vision, Chambersburg

Longmeadow Eyecare, Hagerstown

Ludwick Eye Center – Chambersburg, Hagerstown and Waynesboro

Mark Teunis, O.D., Hagerstown.
