As we approach the holiday season, I’d like to wish each and every one of my readers a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. It’s hard to believe that another year has passed us, by but I think with the events of what happened on Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, all of us should take a good look at life and ourselves and be thankful that we are able to spend the holiday season with those that we share love with.
On the racing front, not much has been going on during the off-season, but there is a central PA ride that has yet to be filled, and that’s the Heffer No. 27 vacated by Daryn Pittman, who left the team to race with Kasey Kahne’s World of Outlaws team. As of this writing on Sunday night, Heffner had not yet officially named his new driver but all clues point to a multi- time Williams Grove champion and one of the all-time leading winners in central PA to fill the seat, and that driver lives just over in the next county. So by the time we come back after a few weeks break to enjoy the season, this news most likely will be official.
The Zemco Racing team did announce last week that Danny Lasoski will be back full time in the car in 2013, racing a similar schedule as always. Lasoski gives Zemco its best chance to win the Knoxville Nationals.
Once we return in 2013, the countdown will be on until the season-opening races here in the area, but of course, the Sprints and Late Models will be kicking up some dirt down South beginning in early February.
That will be a wrap for 2012 and we’ll catch up in a few weeks. Merry Christmas everyone!
