Forbes Road dropped its season opener Monday night losing to Mount Union by the final score of 51-35. Samantha Clippinger posted 11 points, and Shayla Carmack tallied nine points and four steals. Meanwhile, Shania Gelvin was the next highest scorer with seven points.

Southern Fulton 69

Berkeley Springs 39

Southern Fulton opened its season on a positive note Saturday, handily defeating Berkeley Springs, W.Va., by a whopping 30 points. Macey Hollenshead led the Lady Spartans during the non-league game with a total of 19 points, 15 assists and five steals. In addition to Hollenshead’s double-double, teammates Taelor Morton and Kayla Wertz chipped in 17 and 15 points, respectively.

McConnellsburg 38

Mount Union 35

McConnellsburg lagged behind for the majority of Friday’s Inter- County Conference game but some key free throws helped the Lady Spartans inch ahead of Mount Union by the final score of 38- 35. Nikki Fleming recorded almost 50 percent of McConnellsburg’s overall scoring with 18 points as well as 10 rebounds.

Southern Fulton 65

Everett 47

Tied after one quarter of play, Southern Fulton continued to widen the gap against Everett and closed out Friday’s match with a decisive 65-47 Sideling Hill League win. Hot from the three- point zone, Nick Smartt tallied 20 points for the Indians while also making three steals. Jacob Ashkettle followed with 12 points, and Jordan Klingerman posted 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

Southern Fulton 78

Hancock 46

The Southern Fulton Indians were again led by Nick Smartt Monday night during a 78-46 ousting of Hancock, Md. Smartt tallied 23 points, while Jacob Ashkettle and Jordan Clingerman both rallied for 10 points during the non-league win.

Berlin 87

Forbes Road 57

The Forbes Road Cardinals opened up their season on a dismal note Monday with a disappointing 30- point loss at the hands of Berlin. Tristan Gelvin netted 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Kyle Schoen added 13 points. Chase Shaw closed out the day with 10 points, four assists and four steals.
