Ruth A. Holland Shade Gap, 88
Ruth A. Holland, 88, formerly of Shade Gap, and more recently a resident of the Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia, died at 11:20 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2012, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.
Born October 17, 1924, at Loysville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Harry J. and Margaret E. (Hess) Traxler. She was married to Harold J. Holland on April 17, 1943, at Hagerstown, Md. He preceded her in death December 28, 1995.
Surviving are one son, James D. Holland and his wife Sandy of Piper Lane, Shade Gap; four grandchildren: Michael J. Holland, Edward L. Holland, Tressia Day and Debra Holland and six great-grandchildren: Corey Henry, Caitlyn Holland, Bradley Day, Cameron Day, Kayla Storey and Walker Holland.
One son, Kenneth E. Holland, one brother, Paul Traxler, and four sisters, Faye Shehan, Mae Fultz, Betty McMullen and Mabel Miller, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Salem Road, Blairs Mills; Shade Gap Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary; and the Shade Gap Senior Citizens.
During her life she was employed by Sagner Inc., McConnellsburg, for 21 years and prior to that at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Salem United Methodist Church, Blairs Mills. Pastor Luvania Renninger officiated. Interment was made at Salem Cemetery, adjoining the church.
