Maryland Man Jailed For Statutory Sexual Assault
An Essex, Md., man has been ordered to time in a state correctional institution for the sexual assault of a Fulton County juvenile.
Twenty-year-old Dylan Michael Sosebee appeared in the Fulton County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday to answer to charges filed in mid-June by Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg. Law enforcement officials were alerted to inappropriate sexual activity between the Maryland man and a 12-year-old girl when a request was filed against Sosebee for child support.
As part of the sentencing proceeding on December 11, Fulton County District Attorney Travis Kendall read a prepared statement from the victim’s mother. In her statement, the woman said her daughter lives the double life of a teenager and single mother. In April of 2011, she gave birth at the age of 13.
Sosebee of 1610 Frenchs Avenue responded by telling the court he was sorry for what he did.
Judge Shawn Meyers announced even though there was an alleged misrepresentation in age by the juvenile, Sosebee continued the sexual relationship after gaining knowledge regarding her true age. The incidents occurred between June and December 2010 and resulted in 20 counts of statutory sexual assault, 32 counts of corruption of minors and 12 counts of rape of a child being filed.
Maximum penalty in the case was 10 years incarceration and $25,000 in fines. Meyers ordered Sosebee to complete between 12 months and 48 months in a state correctional institution in connection with a prior guilty plea to statutory sexual assault. During that time he may be eligible for boot camp. He was granted credit for time served since September.
Furthermore, Sosebee may not have contact with the victim or her family.
