5.7 Million Pa.Votes Cast For President
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – All 67 of Pennsylvania's counties have certified their vote totals from the Nov. 6 election.
The certified totals reported Friday by state elections officials show that 5.7 million Pennsylvanians cast ballots for president.
Democratic President Barack Obama received 2,990,274 votes, or 52 percent, while Republican Mitt Romney claimed 2,680,434, or 47 percent. The Green and Libertarian party candidates each received less than 1 percent of the vote.
The election’s biggest vote-getter was Attorney General- elect Kathleen Kane, whose 3,125,557 votes were more than Obama or Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, elected to a second term.
The totals don't vary significantly from the unofficial totals gathered on election night by news organizations and the State Department.
Department spokesman Ron Ruman says the totals exclude a couple hundred provisional ballots that remain uncounted.
