Local Dentist Announces Retirement
Dr. Carl Pedersen will retire from the practice of dentistry, effective December 20. A native of Canada who earned his degree from Georgetown Dental School, Dr. Pedersen has served Mercersburg and surrounding area since 1976, when he opened an office on North Main Street. In 1997, he built his current office at 200 Loudon Road. The office and practice have been purchased by Dr. Jacqueline Hughes, who will begin seeing patients on January 2. Appointments may be made by calling 328-5700.
Dr. Hughes graduated with honors from New York University Dental School and has been a member of the Keystone Dental Care staff since 1997. She holds membership in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Cumberland Valley Dental Association. She is married and the mother of four children.
“I feel confident that Dr. Hughes, who is retaining all members of our staff, will meet the community’s expectations for superior dental care,” said Pedersen in announcing his retirement. “My wife, Cherie, and I are grateful for the support of the Mercersburg community as we raised our children and built a life here. It has been rewarding to provide a needed service and to build associations with the fine people who have come to us for their dental care over the past 36 years.”
