A “mean and grouchy” tire man near Three Springs celebrated a birthday in December and wouldn’t disclose the date. The Maddensville Mailbox would like to wish George Curfman a happy birthday this month and a very Merry Christmas. You might say you’re mean and grouchy, but we all know better.

Get well wishes to Sylvia Park, Betty Fleck, Jane Brown, George Cook, Jack Horton, Jeff Everts, Joan Houck, Deanna Shope and Almeda Nead.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Jennifer Jenkins, wife of Mike Jenkins. Jenn fought a tough battle with cancer and is now an angel watching over her family.

Kaylee Locke spent Monday afternoon visiting with Gordon and Donna Locke. She was also visiting with Gordon Locke on Sunday afternoon.

The annual community choir Christmas cantata will be held December 15 and 16, beginning at 7 p.m. at Orbisonia United Methodist Church.

Immanuel Bible Church held its annual Christmas program on Sunday evening. The program about Christmas mythbusters was as always very entertaining. Congratulations to all the participants and adults who worked diligently for the production.

Walnut Grove Senior Youth celebrated with their annual Christmas party at the fellowship building on Sunday afternoon. Lots of food was served and several games were played, with Joe Myers being the big winner of the day receiving a bag of coal.

Walnut Grove Church held its annual Christmas caroling and fruit basket delivery on Sunday evening. Despite the rainy weather a good time was had by all.

Terri Grissinger visited with Jim, Lori, Brenden, Holden and Camden Lupey on Friday evening.

Recent visitors in the home of the Steve Grissinger family were Ramon and Tammy Martin, Travis Madden, Mike, Patty, Chris and Kevin Pintozzi, Ben Haines and Brent Carlson. Also visiting on Saturday and checking out the farm were Amber, Brayden and Aubrey Thomas.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold shooting matches on Saturdays beginning at 1 p.m. Shells will be provided.

Karen Grissinger has been writing the Maddensville Mailbox for more than 20 years. She has decided to retire from writing the news at the end of this year. There have been no volunteers, so please let her know if you are interested in continuing the column.

At the recent retired teacher’s meeting at the chiropractor’s office in Huntingdon, Roger Hoover said that he would miss the news. Maddensville Mailbox would like to say we are hoping for a volunteer too.
