Walter E. McKinley Needmore, 89

Walter E. “Bud” McKinley, 89, Needmore, Pa., and formerly of Hancock, Md., died Monday, December 3, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Everett, October 24, 1923, the son of the late Verona (Clark) Golden. He was the husband of Goldie H. (Kline) McKinley, whom he married in 1946.

He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a private in World War II.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore.

He was a co-founder of Needmore Volunteer Fire Co.

He was involved with Needmore Boy Scout Troop 45 for 55 years. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #0612 in St. Thomas and was an avid sportsman. He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg for 33 years, retiring as a shop supervisor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bob (husband of Judy) McKinley of Westmoreland County, Pa.; a brother, Paul “Pete” Golden of Hancock; a sister, Betty Knable of Needmore; grandchildren: Heather (wife of Donald) Grove of Tennessee; Rob (husband of Allison) McKinley of Pittsburgh; Katie McKinley of Westmoreland County, Pa.; Patrick McKinley of Erie; and great-grandchildren: Liam, Gabby, Donovann, Anna, Duncan and Riley.

He was preceded in death by brothers: Jim and John Golden; and sisters Ruth Unger and Catherine Clingerman.

Religious services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McCon-nellsburg, at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012, with Pastor Roger Truax officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Needmore.

There will be visitation on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
