Representatives of the Fulton County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) presented a mock check to the Fulton County commissioners. The state organization represents about 30,000 retired Pennsylvania school employees.

There are about 250 school retirees living in the county. These people were custodians, teachers, secretaries, nurses, administrators and support personnel. They were very valuable when they were working and are still valuable to the community now. The job is to enjoy retirement and to help others. Many do this as volunteers in various organizations. It is figured that the volunteer hours given to these organizations would be worth $249,000 for the past year if they were paid for their service. The mock check was given to the commissioners representing the value of the service to the people of this county.
