During National Domestic Violence Month in October, Preceptor Gammi Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority asked the Fulton County community to help its victims of abuse by making donations to Women In Need (WIN). They received 1,555 items, $840 and two cellphones.

The commitment to helping is appreciated by the sorority and most importantly, by those who benefit directly from WIN. For the first nine months of this year Fulton County victims received the following services: 248 adults, 40 children and 31 significant others were served; 2,149 persons participated in prevention education and training programs; 1,767 hours of advocacy and counseling services were given; safe housing was provided for 12 women and seven children for 361 days. In addition to preceding services, the Sexual Assault Response Team provided aid to seven victims.

The sorority reminds its residents of an unsettling fact: not every home in Fulton County is a home. Assistance in Fulton County can be requested 24/7 by calling 717-485-5840 or 800-621- 6660. Also a weekly ad in The Fulton County News provides WIN’s contact information, a service provided by the sorority.
