Ramon and Tammy Martin and Terri Grissinger participated in the “Turkey Trot” 5K in Shippensburg on Thanksgiving morning. All proceeds from the race went to the local food bank.

Kaylee Locke spent Saturday visiting with Gordon and Donna Locke. Kaylee is growing so fast and really enjoys watching all that is happening around her.

The annual community choir Christmas cantata will be held December 15 and 16 beginning at 7 p.m. at Orbisonia United Methodist Church.

Gordon and Donna Locke hosted Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday for Justin, James, Kaylee, Adam, Amanda, Toryn, Cameron, and Brayden Locke, George and Heather Locke, Gregg Locke, John Gard, Victoria and Ariella Dunkle, Irene Park, Nora and Ruth Grissinger, Mark Ramsey and Rebecca Bobb.

Steve and Karen Grissinger recently traveled north across the state of Pennsylvania to visit Kinzua State Park. Kinzua Bridge is a historic railroad bridge used to shuttle coal across a gorge over 300 feet in the air. It was wiped out during a tornado in 2003 and has been restored with a viewing deck to see the devastation and the remains of the bridge. Also on their way they visited the Grice Gun Shop in Clearfield, The Winery at Wilcox and the Case and Zippo Museum in Bradford.

Roger and Pat Ramsey hosted Thanksgiving dinner for Brian, Emily, Micah and Addie Ramsey and Chad Ramsey.

Tom and Mamie Streightiff hosted Thanksgiving dinner for Tim Streightiff, Kenny, Kristi and Jase Watkins, Jen Ramsey and Dusty and Lucy Ramsey.

Buzz and Bea Covert enjoyed Thanksgiving lunch with Fred and Sharon Horne, Travis and Angela Madden, Eric, Bethany and Lily Baer, Barb Ramsey and Tom Ramsey.

Thanksgiving visitors with the Steve Grissinger family were Donna Locke, Buzz and Bea Covert, Ramon and Tammy Martin, Janet Sipes, Travis and Angela Madden and Amanda Yocum. The crew was busy in the evening with the annual hard crack candy making.

Other recent visitors in the home of the Steve Grissinger family were Tom and Mamie Streightiff, James Locke, Janet Fraker, Steve, Rich and Ben Haines, Marty, Mark and Brian Sinkiewicz, Mike, Chris and Kevin Pintozzi, and Brent Carlson.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold shooting matches Saturdays beginning at 1 p.m. Shells will be provided.

Immanuel Bible Church will host its annual Christmas program on Sunday, December 9.

Karen Grissinger has been writing the Maddensville Mailbox for more than 20 years. She has decided to retire from writing the news at the end of this year.
