Forbes Road Clears Short Meeting Agenda
The Forbes Road School District’s Board of Directors dealt with a short agenda during their regular monthly meeting on November 5, 2012. The agenda included items related to finance, miscellaneous and personnel.
During a discussion on finances, the board unanimously approved the revised basketball admission to athletic events proposal. Payment for cafeteria software using the Capital Project Fund was also approved with two “no” votes.
During miscellaneous business, the board approved a request from AYSO for use of the old school on November 10 from noon to 2 p.m. for trophy presentations.
A request by elementary teachers to organize an elementary dance as a fundraiser to benefit the elementary fund was approved, but with one “no” vote.
The board unanimously approved a request from the alumni basketball league for use of the old school on Sundays from November through February and approved the Comprehensive Plan for 07/01/13 – 06/30/16 as presented.
During personnel business, the business assistant to the superintendent was appointed as the Forbes Road District representative to act on behalf of the district on matters related to the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit Capital Insurance Trust (TIUCIT) Consortium and the superintendent was appointed as the alternate representative.
On a unanimous vote, Jamie Gelvin was hired as the fourth- to sixth-grade girls basketball team coach at the beginning level. Brittany Douglas and Haley Strait were added to the teacher substitute list. Both are IU certified and the motion carried unanimously. Tina Everhart and Karlyn Mellott were added to the cafeteria substitute list.
In addition to their regular business, the board members also heard updates on Vo-Tech by Teressa Bard, Byron Helsel and Karen Peffer; on maintenance/building and grounds by John Mixell; on the elementary school by Paul Swope; on the junior/ senior high school by Christina Ramsey; and on the district by Mark Loucks.
The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, December 3, at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
