The 2012 Central PA racing season officially came to an end Saturday afternoon at Susquehanna Speedway Park.
The track has hit a home run in the weather department for the past few years of its Final Showdown in November and this weekend was no different.
Don Kreitz Jr. used a final lap pass to score the 410 Sprint car win after coming from the 10th starting spot.
Danny Dietrich finished second over Greg Hodnett, Brent Marks and Mark Smith with Logan Schuchart, Cole Duncan, Adam Wilt, Brian Montieth and Gerard McIntyre the top 10.
Pat Cannon took the lead on the fifth of the 358 sprint car main and drove away for his 16th overall win on the season over Josh Beard, Doug Hammaker, Matt Horst and Billy Pauch, Jr.
Selinsgrove Speedway, one of just a few tracks to actually hold a year end banquet anymore, honored its champions two weeks ago.
Pat Cannon was honored as a third time track 358 Sprint car champ while Jeff Rine was honored with his eighth career Selinsgrove track title in the late models. Other track champions were AJ Hoffman in the pro stocks and Bob Bussey in the roadrunners.
Special sprint car awards went to Derek Locke (Most Improved) and Jason Shultz (Sportsmanship) with late model awards presented to Jim Bernheimer (Most Improved) and Dave Zona (Sportsmanship).
Selinsgrove Speedway will open with a 410 Sprint car program on Sunday, March 10 event.
On a final note, to all of you Penn State fans out there, find some tickets for the next two home games as this special team ends a tough year with two straight games in Happy Valley. The team needs our support because its apparent they are not going to get it anywhere else! E-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
